I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday filled with all of your favorite foods and people. It is wonderful to turn our attention to gratitude. I am so grateful to be a part of this club; for the friendship and fellowship of each of you. For more than 26 years, Rotary has given me an opportunity to make friends who I would have otherwise never crossed paths. Our diversity in vocation is one of our strengths. So is the worldwide structure of Rotary, allowing us to exchange culture and promote peace across our globe. And as Paula just experienced, Rotary offers special opportunities to be in service with family and friends across the country and world! Thank you all for your commitment to our mission.

December is always a busy month and we have lots of good to do in our community. We’re bell ringing for the Salvation Army on December 14. We also have the wonderful opportunity to engage with our beautiful community helping the Nevada City Police Department at Victorian Christmas, held on three Sundays and three Wednesday evenings. We still need a lot of help so if you are willing and able, please sign up here.
We’ll have our annual holiday gathering with social hour beginning at 5:00 on Monday, December 2 at Friar Tucks. Don’t forget your white elephant gift!
We’re dark on Thursday, December 5. On December 12, at lunch at the Bhodi-Hive, we’ll welcome DG Dennis Geare back to his home club. PDG Stacy Graham has done a great job of tracking the adventures of DG Dennis on the Rotary District 5190 Facebook Page. If you’re on Facebook be sure to like and follow District 5190. Then, we will have our important Club Annual Meeting at our social on December 19.

We are planning on bringing back the White Elephant gift exchange. Look around your house for something (worth no more than $10.00 max.) to repurpose into a new life in someone else’s home. We know you all have those things that make you say, “What the heck am I ever going to do with this??” Now’s your opportunity to “gift” it to someone else. Please bring it either wrapped or in a gift bag.
We have planned an evening of fun and fellowship to kick off the holiday season. See you at Friar Tuck’s. Social hour starts at 5:00 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m.
The holidays are fast approaching, and with them comes a unique opportunity for Community Service. We did such a good job last year, our Community Services Director (Chief Dan Foss) has once again asked the Rotary Club of Nevada City to help at the Victorian ChristmasEvents.
