Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends,

Special thanks for her presentation on Ayurveda by Pp Louise Bennicoff-Johnson. She explored with us the holistic system of medicine that emphasizes the interconnectedness of Body … Mind … Spirit. She pointed out in many ways how it aims to achieve balance and harmony within each of these aspects to promote overall Health and Well-being viewing illness as an Imbalance. Thanks Louise for helping us see what we can do.

Cathy, Judy, Tom Ryan and Tom Milam, Robin, Karen, Andrea, Paula, Dennis, Carolyn, Jim. Miles and Kelly and David Babineau, with Ken Hunter, Louise and me
joined in that Social meeting on the 7th.

Coming up on August 14, Thursday at 12:15 at Bodhi-Hive we will be welcoming District Governor Larry Harvey. This is always a special opportunity, once a year, to learn from the Top Down just what Rotary International is all about, specific to District 5190 in 2025/2026.

Looking at our List of Current Members (btw, this is Rotary Membership Month!) I would Love It if we could ALL/36 make every effort to attend. Please and Thank You in Advance.

Yes, we are Uniting for Good and my gratitude overflows!

Peace, Pearce

2025 Paws and A Cause

Pawsome plans coming together!

We are closing in on plans with participating organizations.  We are going to need additional pop up tents for checkin, Doggie Corner, and Timmy.  If you have one, please let Robin know!

We will have tickets soon! We are ordering Paws and A Cause t-shirts for $15 each.  Let Robin know this week what size you want if you want to order one! Join us for planning meetings every 1st and 3rd Thursday at 4pm at Round Table.

Want to reconnect with Lassie?  We asked Jon Provost if he has a favorite Lassie show and he pointed us to the three part Odyssey series...a tender series. Lassie ends up far from home ... It is probably one of the most sentimental and beautifully filmed of all the Lassie episodes.

Imagination Library Launched

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Nevada County — Now Accepting Enrollments!

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Nevada County officially launched August 1, 2025, and is now accepting enrollments for children ages 0-5! Hundreds of children were enrolled during the Nevada County Fair thanks to the Children's Activity booth run by First 5 Nevada County.

Nevada City Rotary Club and Foundation partnered with the Dollywood Foundation last Fall, and with the quick addition of First 5 Nevada County as a community partner and administrative lead, we have worked tirelessly to raise the funds needed to get the program going. Nearly a year later, we are excited to officially launch and start getting high-quality books into the homes of all Nevada County children 0-5 every month.

Our most sincere gratitude to all who have contributed to get this program up and running!

2025 National Night Out in Grass Valley
This year’s National Night Out & Kids Color Fun Run on Tuesday August 5 was a colorful evening in Grass Valley’s Memorial Park. Kids of all ages were out in force grabbing NCPD grilled hot dogs and begging to be splattered with colored cornstarch! Thanks to our Nevada City Rotary Cookie Crispy Mom, we served an endless supply of rice crispy treats!  And not just the plain orginal ones…Cathy baked chocolate plus butterscotch and chocolate chip rice crispies too!
Click for our photo album!
Once again, Chief Dan Foss stayed boringly colorless in is black NCPD uniform — unlike Paula, Cathy, and Robin. Thanks to Giudita and George for helping with the crispy bar, too!  It is always a really fun time, especially the Kids Color Fun Run.
