On the left with Andrea are Melody Easton, Hallie Anderson, and of course, Dolly Parton!
We are preparing to launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Nevada County
At last week’s Social, Andrea in partnership with Melody Easton, Executive Director, First 5 Nevada County, and Hallie Anderson, Northern California Coordinator for Imagination Library shared plans for DPIL Nevada County’s emerging program. In presenting the Imagination Library, Hallie shared Dolly Parton’s personal story of how her father’s inability to read and write inspired her to launch a book program for her own community in Eastern Tennessee. In the past 30 years, that seed program has expanded to five countries and almost 300 million books have been distributed to young children aging from birth to five years. In the coming months, we will begin the process of enrolling Nevada County’s youngest children. When the Nevada County distribution is in place, each enrolled child will receive their own personal, age appropriate book every month through the age of five! The first book a child receives is the sweet, simple but powerful message of “The Little Engine That Could” — a message that resonates for children of all ages and sets the tone for the program. Congratulations and deep appreciation to Andrea and the DPIL team who are actively organizing this transformative program for Nevada County!
On Thursday, we return to Bodhi Hive where Cindy Zuelsdorf will speak to us about Demystifying AI. Cindy describes herself as “a former overworked marketing czar, turned marketing and marketing automation expert, and founder of my agency Kokoro Marketing, and of 7 Marketing Basics, my book and course.” A long time Nevada County resident, Cindy is both a personal friend and business colleague of several club members.
As announced last month, we begin our Bring Your Own Lunch this week. Fix or order your own. Consider bringing a little extra to share! Join us at 12:15pm for a fun and enlightening session!
The Imagination Library is a book gifting program created by Dolly Parton to inspire a love of reading in young children, from birth to age five. The program sends high-quality, age-appropriate books directly to children’s homes each month at no cost to families, helping to build their home libraries and to encourage early literacy.
