This week, Chris and I are preparing a display of our club events for the Area 4 table in the House of Friendship at the District 5190 Conference. As I prepare photos to print and organize items to include, such as a couple Menstrual Hygiene Kits, I’m amazed at the number of our projects and achievements just since January.
Here are several examples:
We’re helping with construction of the NEO Cafe project in keeping with our multi-club District Grant for Bright Futures for Youth. And our Interact Club at Sierra Academy for Expeditionary Learning has started up with their "Chicken Tractor” project.
In March, we had a very successful health screening project in Los Barriles for the first time since January 2020. It was a lot of fun.
Our lithium-ion battery collection this past Saturday netted more than double the number of batteries collected last year.
We have another Global Scholar, Wrenn Cleary, who will be studying water conservation and management at Oxford University, UK. This corresponds to the Environment focus of the RI Foundation.
And we’ve made yet another very promising change of venue for our noontime meetings - TJ’s Roadhouse. Top all this off with two new members - Lynn and Alison in January, and a third will come on board later this month, Kelly Babineau.
Join us for our very special Thursday social: Plant-Rich Potluck with some of our new SAEL Interactor students. Bring your own place settings like we always did for our Fair picnic, beverage of choice, and a yummy potluck dish to share!
