Because we Rotarians love nature, we want to take care of it. So, we not only celebrate Earth Dayon April 22, but will also hold our lithium ion-battery recycling event this month. Among important celebrations are the Earth Fest Street Fair sponsored by the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce on April 23 and Bear Yuba Land Trust's April 22 Earth Day and Birthday Celebration at Wildflower Ridge Preserve.
For those of you who couldn’t attend our social club meeting last Thursday, April 6, we congratulated two of our members for their latest Paul Harris status. Karen McDonald celebrated her PH + 8 and Tom Ryan his PH + 4. If you’ve been thinking of funding your next recognition level, please consider doing so before July 1. Our club hasn’t yet reached its Polio Plus goal for 2022-2023.
Our postponed Community Awards event will now take place on Wednesday May 10 from 5:30-7pm.at the Miners’ Foundry. Many thanks to our member Lynn Skrukrud for serving on the Nominating Committee.
Last, your co-presidents had a fun time being interviewed by Tom Fitzsimmons at KNCO radio on Friday. It was a good opportunity to broadcast the battery recycling event on April 15 and to mention our new Interact Club at Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning (SAEL). We also gave the example of our health screening work in Los Barriles as a way Rotary clubs can make a big impact with a small project.
