Area Governor Marcia Salter, along with our own Dennis Geare presented the Rotary Club of Nevada City and past President Louise Johnson with Rotary International's Club of Excellence Award for the 2024/2025 year at last Thursday’s meeting at the Hive. Congratulations one and all!
Afterward we heard from presenters Dom Lindars and DakotaStroh about the amazing collection they and many others have recorded in the Nevada County Historical Archive in a digitally preserved collection of documents, photos, maps and indexes as well as some eye-opening video memories from the past. Much more to be done and contributions are encouraged for the efforts; a wonderful presentation. (They moved up their schedule to accommodate us and we are grateful.)
Grass Valley Rotary President Jessie Wilson (District Attorney) helped many attendees at Sierra College last Friday better understand Prop 36. Ken Hunter came with me and we saw a bunch of NC Rotarians and other ‘dignitaries” along with County CEO Alison Lehman who relayed to me her intent to be at our meetings more regularly with some ‘empty-nesting’ making it easier. These monthly forums (one hour!) are amazing. As is our County!
I hope the Labor Day break has given you some time to pause and count the many blessings we have.
