Growth, at its simplest, means becoming more than we were: more capable, more connected, and more stable. It applies to trees, to businesses, and also applies to a room full of people who show up week after week wanting to make their community better.
For a Rotary club, membership growth isn't just a numbers game, it's foundational. Every new member who joins doesn't just fill a seat; they bring a fresh set of skills, a new professional network, and a different way of looking at old problems. A club that grows stays relevant, resilient, and ready to take on bigger projects than it could alone.
With that in mind, we're thrilled to welcome our newest member, Lisa Drageset, along with her official Rotary Spouse, Anders. We're glad to have you both in the fold, and we can't wait to see where your energy takes our club. And the growth doesn't stop there: we have two more new members lined up to join us in the coming weeks.
Speaking of recognition earned through generosity, Thursday evening's social brought a great moment: Foundation Co-Chair Tom Ryan recognized his fellow Co-Chair, Miles, with a PHF+1, his second Paul Harris Award. These contributions help to fund Rotary's global work in areas like clean water, disease prevention, and education ~ and come back to our Club in the form of District Grants. Congratulations, Miles!
One more note on the growth front: we still need additional volunteers to work alongside the Nevada City Police Department at Hot Summer Nights, including this Wednesday, July 22. If you can lend a hand, please see the signup link below, our community is counting on us!
This upcoming week we are back at Bodhi-Hive for our lunch meeting, where we are looking forward to hearing from speaker Callie Kendall of the Northern Rural Energy Network (NREN). We have an amazing lineup of expertise in our speaker series coming up, so join us when you can and stay tuned for more details each week.
Just two more Wednesday evenings, July 22 and 29, 2026 for our fun, uniquely Nevada City service opportunity at Summer Nights. We are supporting fellow Rotarian, Chief Dan Foss and Nevada City Police Department. Shifts are only 2 hours of welcoming friends and visitors from our area and beyond!
