There are not words to express the depth of my appreciation to the Nevada City Rotarians for my Demotion Celebration last Thursday on June 12. My heart is filled with peace, love and joy as we got to spend this time together to celebrate the 24-25 Rotary Year. Thanks to all who shared their wonderfully fun photos. June is Fellowship month for Rotary International. As a lifelong high school educator, the end of year activities at school have reminded me where fellowship starts and people learn to work together in a group towards a common goal. We always hope that each student finds their passion in their middle and high school years. For my daughter, that thing was band. Picking up a flute in 5th grade she began on the journey or being a “band kid.”  
 
This year, our 5 Rotary Clubs collaborated on a project to collect used instruments from the community, have them repaired if needed, and deliver them into the hands of middle school students. Previously we had taken a variety of stringed instruments to Seven Hills. On Friday, June 13, GV South Rotary President Laura Armacher and I got to go back and deliver the last of the repaired instruments to Seven Hills Middle School. We got to add to the last day of school excitement by presenting the band students with new instruments for next year.
  
On Thursday June 19 we’ll be back at our social at 5:30 at Round Table Pizza in Grass Valley. Past District Governor, Dave Denny, will do his Magic Show to help close out our Magical Rotary Year! I’m grateful to RI International President Stephanie Urchick, for giving us such a delightful theme. Rotary Rob will be sticking close to me because he does NOT want to go back in the hat that he popped out of at the beginning of Rotary Year 24-25. This is going to be a magical craft talk from PDG Dave so please come out and join us!

Lithium Ion Battery Recycle June 14 2025

Thank you Dave’s Auto Repair for hosting our Recycle Rechargeable Batteries event on Saturday June 14 and Nevada City Rotarians for collecting batteries from local residents. Cathy, Nancy, Tom Ryan, and Chris are shown sorting and taking apart some of the devices that were dropped off. Nancy and Carolyn are waiting for more cars. Not shown are Walt, Jim, Kelly, Judy, and Robin.
