Once again, please give thanks for the wonderful year 2024-25 for our Rotary Club of Nevada City. Thank you too for taking the Poll. We are compiling the results and will share them soon.
This coming October, 2025 we will celebrate 90 years as a chartered Club.
The July 3 meeting will be recognizing America’s 249th birthday. Wear your Red, White and Blue ‘colors’ if you would like and we can share our favorite 4th of Julystories.
(The parade is in Grass Valley this year, 10 am.)
I will also take a few minutes to give you an idea of how I have come along and ended up here today. Craft talks have been so fun to listen to and I hope to make mine interesting, too.
The July 10th lunch meeting at Bodhi-Hive will be catered, including sandwiches from Back Porch Deli, drinks and Oreos and Chips Ahoi. Lunch meetings going forward will be brown bag affairs henceforth. Cathy and Judy have stepped up so graciously.
ALSO… we will be taking a group photograph on July 10 promptly at 12:30. So PLEASE make the effort to attend, even if you can attend only for a quick visit due to your busy schedules.
High on our agenda this year, right along with our fellowship (and Happy $):
Paws and a Cause - September 27… Planning meetings every 1st and 3rd Thursday at 4pm, Round Table Pizza.
Dolly Parton Imagination Library - gaining positive momentum.
Pumpkins to End Polio (name change, perhaps?!) October 2025
Board meeting July 14- Zoom, (all welcome); Finalize Board positions filled and needed including President-elect ’26-27 candidates…if interested please advise.
We enjoyed a small group of 16,000 Rotarians in Calgary, BC. Biggest House of Friendship on the planet. Great opening session and lots of breakouts. Traipsed around the Calgary Zoo for 5 hours and still a bit stiff.
Obviously a great time at Convention, at the Zoo, and around Calgary!
I will have a farewell address out tomorrow, but I want to acknowledge the Rotary Club of Nevada City for making me all that I am in Rotary, and for nominating me for the honor of supporting the District and 60 Clubs as DG this year. We've done well singing those amazing songs! I look forward to getting back to the heart of Rotary... our club. DG Dennis
Earlier this year the Nevada City Council approved a creative, visionary proposal by City Manager Sean Grayson and Cathy for the City, Chamber of Commerce, and merchants of Nevada City, in partnership with Nevada City Rotary, to host a very special city-wide Nevada City Pumpkins for Polio event this fall. Merchants will be displaying painted pumpkins in their windows around town.
Two long rows of pumpkins are now in the ground with irrigation lines laid. The plants are at different stages of development but most are growing fast. As the summer unfolds, the pumpkin plants need frequent tender care and attention.
Join us again Saturday July 5 from 7:30am - 10amat BakBraken Acresto organically gopher proof our pumpkins. Drop in when you can,the earlier the better.

A BIG THANK YOU to Nevada City Rotarians who have stepped up as sponsors for this year’s Paws and A Cause! We are eager to line up our sponsors so that we can promote them along with our event!
As a child actor, John Hensley played on a series of Lassie shows with his friend Timmy, (aka Jon Provost). As a special treat, John is sponsoring our event and Jon who will host a booth sharing canine wellness products and tales from days with Lassie. Meet and greet Lassie’s best bud Timmy.
Way to go Rotarians Miles and Susi Adler, Nicole Dillard and BookTown, Foothills Compassionate Care/Hospice thanks to Mai Lee, and Karen McDonald who are all supporting Paws as sponsors!
And a shout out to Pine Creek Veterinary Clinic who is our 2025 Bandana sponsor! Sponsors are the critical spice that support our event! More are in the works.
How can you support our event? You too can be a sponsor or help recruit animal loving businesses and service organizations that you frequent as sponsors.
