Hello Nevada City Rotarians and Friends!

Oh, happy summer days! As we approach the last month of our term as co-presidents, Cathy and I have been honored to serve as your leads of this amazing Rotary club. We are filled with love and gratitude for all the moments of service and joy we've shared. But wait, we still have a month to go.

This Thursday’s Social meeting will feature Tom Boxler as our craft talk. He has had an amazing life, and it will be interesting to hear what aspects he decides to discuss. Come at 5:15pm to order your pizza or salad dinner.

Next Thursday June 13 will be the Demotion Party for Cathy and me. It will start at 5:30pm in Chris and Bill Newsom’s Nevada City Garden. Please RSVP using the invitation below. I don’t know anything more; the committee is keeping the evening a secret.

Rotary Vocational Service in Action

On a sunny Saturday morning June 1, John Hensley handed over keys to Noel Brownell owner of Tour de Nevada City Bike Shop. John added an extension to his real estate office and Harmony Ridge Market building on Hwy 20 across from the Old 5 Mile House. The new annex will soon be home to Tour de Nevada City’s outpost.

The two Nevada City Rotarians are a great example of Rotary’s Vocational Service at work. Rotary’s focus on Vocational Service is about promoting the highest ethical standards in business and contributing our vocational talents to solving the problems of society and meeting the needs of the community. Congrats to John and Noel for sharing your individual professional skills to serve the many local and visiting bikers on Harmony Ridge!

Rambling Rotarians Summer Stars 2024

Nevada City Rambling Rotarians hit the trail with the Bear Yuba Land Trust Star Challenge on Sunday. We found our first star on the Rough & Ready Trail at Wildflower Ridge. The Music Helps the Soul design is the perfect star to salute our incoming DG Dennis!

Delightful stars created by artists at Neighborhood Center for the Arts have been hung on 18 trails around the area. The Star Challenge goes until June 23. T-shirts and prizes will be presented to registered ($25) participants at the Celebration of Trails Street Party on June 29 in Nevada City. For more details visit BYLT’s Star Challenge. Whether you register or not, you are welcome to join us on the star hikes. Let Cathy, Kelly, and Robin know if you are interested in joining us.
