Pumpkins Palooza was a smashing success! Four very happy raffle winners are celebrating with restaurant gift certificates in hand, and a whole patch of well-loved painted pumpkins have found new homes around town. The kids’ pumpkin painting table was a huge hit, and judging by the paint on little hands and faces, creativity ran wild. Final results of the evening are still to come, but for now we want to say a heartfelt thank you to the club members whose time and energy made the night happen, and to the community members who turned out to support our club and our causes. You made it a night to remember. Click for photos!

This week, we’re swapping paintbrushes for page-turners. Join us for our BYO lunch meeting at Bodhi Hive, where local author Caleb Dardick will be joining us to talk about his new memoir, The Adventures of Superfreak: My Childhood on the Hippie Trail. In 1970, five-year-old Caleb set off with his parents and two younger siblings on a 20,000-mile overland journey from Amsterdam to India in a VW bus, traveling through Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Told through a child’s eyes, the memoir explores family resilience, disability and interdependence, and the wonder and cost of a free-spirited life. It promises to be a fascinating conversation, so pack a lunch and come ready to be transported.
With Pumpkins Palooza behind us, we’re looking ahead to the Fall and Winter season with plenty of excitement. There are many more opportunities for service coming up, so keep your calendar handy and your enthusiasm charged!
