Your club presidents had a blast at our Demotion Party and were so impressed and grateful for all the preparations, funny/silly games, and delicious food prepared by Judy and Cathy. You made us feel recognized and appreciated for our dedication to our roles as club presidents. But we also learned most of us are stupid when it comes to winning in Family Feud!!  
 
 
Those of you who served as chefs, master of ceremonies, music maker, money taker, and helped with set-up and take-down really made the party a big success. We feel very proud of you all, and certainly appreciate your tireless efforts for so many projects and events all year that resulted in us being named the Club of the Year for District 5190.

Our Rotary wheel has come full circle - out with the presidency of Carolyn & Chris and in with that of Karen, Doug, and Cathy.  It’s been an exciting, exhilarating year; at times it felt like a heavy load to provide our full support nonstop in a new role, but it has been wonderful for us working together as partners. All in all, it’s been a memorable year like no other!
 
We won’t be meeting this week (June 29) as it is a fifth Thursday, but join us for our first social of the year at the Round Table Pizza on Thursday July 6. You are in for a great new Rotary year, starting out with Co-Prez Karen leading us the first four months!

2023 Backpacks for Children

BACKPACK DRIVE ALERT !!!

Nevada City Rotary is donating funds and backpacks for local youth through the Backpack Drive! organized by Bright Futures for Youth and Nevada County Child Support Services. The drive ends early July so we are acting fast! 

How you can support:

Just purchase a backpack and bring it to the July 6th Club Social. Checks or cash donations are also welcome so Bright Futures for Youth and Child Support Services can purchase the supplies to fill the backpacks. The backpacks and supplies will be distributed to students at the start of the school year.

Let's see how many BACKPACKS we can gather for our local students!

As we launch our new Rotary year, you are invited to an afternoon of friendship and discovery.
 
Club Service Chairs will be on hand to discuss their committee activities. You will be able to interact with them, have your questions answered, and join committees of your choices and interests!

Annual Demotion Party June 22 2023

Nevada City Rotary celebrated Fiesta Style

Our congratulations and gratitude to Co-Presidents Chris and Carolyn for a successful Rotary year!  To celebrate our 2022-2023 Rotary Year and demote Las Presidentas Chris and Carolyn Nevada City Rotarians and guests gathered for a fiesta at Horsemen’s Lodge on Thursday June 22. Special thanks to Cathy and Judy for the fabulous taco bar spread all sorts of fixings and to PDG Dave, Past President Tom and Gayle for organizing the celebration and recognition of Chris and Carolyn.  
 
Their presentation of gifts included their Past President pins — yes, with 8 days remaining in their term!

Growing Pumpkins for Polio

Pumpkin starts are in the ground!


Big thanks to Cathy Wilcox-Barnes and John Drew owner of BakBraken Acres for creating a special partnership so our Club can grow Pumpkins for Polio. We plan to go out again on Tuesday morning to care for our plants and work on irrigation from 7:30 a.m. (or what time works for you) until about 9:30 a.m. Contact Cathy if you can join her at BakBraken Acres at 14283 Judy Lane (off Powerline) in Chicago Park.
