Thank you to those who came out for our Thursday social – we welcomed our RYE (Rotary Youth Exchange) studentMilton, said goodbye and good luck to Wrenn who is off for Oxford, and finally IPDG Jeff presented the trophy for Club of the Year 2022-2023 to Carolyn. Yes, it was an exciting evening.

Please review the Rotario this week. There are many activities happening for you to take part in from trail cleanup to marching in the Constitution Day Parade. If you have not yet scheduled to attend the District Foundation Recognition Dinner in Reno on Friday, October 6 and the Clubs in Action training seminar the next day, you don’t want to miss out. There are going to be great presentations made on all aspects of Rotary – these presentations will enlighten both new Rotarians and veteran Rotarians. You do not have to be in the leadership of the club, all are welcome to attend the seminar. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
A special gathering at the Pumpkin Patch will take place on Tuesday – contact Cathy Wilcox-Barnes if you would like to be included with special snacks by the pond.
Our speaker this Thursday will be giving us a presentation on an alternative power source coming soon to Nevada City. It should be enlightening. We are back at TJs, please RSVP with your meal choice!
In closing, I want to pay honor to those who lost their lives during the attacks on September 11. Our prayers are with those who are grieving, suffering sickness due to their duties as first responders, and to those who have fought to keep our nation safe.

Please RSVP by noon on Wednesday and specify your choice for lunch. Meeting charges are $25 if you are eating and $10 if you are not eating. If you choose to pay via credit card in advance, please add $1/meal (i.e. $26) to cover fees and be sure you return to the RSVP form after paying to SUBMIT your reservation.

You have heard about our Pumpkins for Polio Project for several months now. Are you curious to see how your apprentice farmer Rotarians are doing, or what we are doing every Tuesday morning? Well, wonder no longer. We are hosting anOpen Pumpkin Patch/Pond Party this coming Tuesday morning (September 12th) at BakBraken Acres (the location of the Pumpkin Patch). We will work our regular morning in the field starting at 7:30am and then, around 9:30 a.m. or so, we will adjourn to the beautiful pond area to enjoy light brunch snacks and good conversation in a peaceful setting. Join us for work or just for snacks and play!
Menu includes fresh raspberry and blackberry scones with berry sauces and crème fraîche, watermelon slices, cheese squares and fresh hummus with veggies.
We will provide food but bring your own beverage of choice. If you would like to attend, please reply to let Cathy or Robin know so we can plan enough food. Also, if you need more information, please contact one of us. We look forward to hosting you in a beautiful setting and, hopefully, inspiring a few new farmer apprentices for next year.

Tally and First US Credit Union served as a collection point for all the backpacks and donations our Club made to BFFY and Nevada County Department of Child Support Services. Backpacks were distributed to over 200 students before school started!
Board Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month. Our next meeting will be September 11 at 4:00pm via Zoom.
