Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends,

First things first. Thank you, Alison, for such a HeartFelt "craft talk." You had our rapt attention as you took us through the Nine Milestones. I’m sure I speak for many in the group who have reflected back on all you covered and the emotions they involved. ...So glad you have joined the Rotary Club of Nevada City.

Speaking of the groupMiles, Jim (with guest Cindy), Paula, Gayle and Dave, Nicole, Dennis, Lynda, John, Ken, Andrea (PE-to-be), Karen, Robin and Tom, Chris, Tom Ryan, Judy, Kim, Walt (with Sandy) and Cathy along with guests Kelli and Mark Turansky (recently moved from Hawaii) filled up the back room at Round Table.

Our Los Barriles, Mexico trip is taking form March 9-14, 2026. Many of us are planning to go so please keep it in the realm of possibility for you too.

Bodhi-Hive will be our destination for the second Thursday meeting. At 12:15 so pack up your lunch for what promises to be a wonderful discussion about the goings-on at the Nevada City Chamber by their leader, ED Lynn Skrukrud and a member of our Club as well!

We are excited that Andrea Mason has accepted her nomination to serve as Nevada City Rotary Club President 2026-2027. Join us to formally elect Andrea as President-Elect during Thursday's meeting.

As was shared at the last meeting, we are feeling more and more like family and we encourage everyone to bring your Love to the table.

Peace, Pearce

Rotary Food Bank Challenge 2025

December 1-12, 2025 for Food Bank of Nevada County

If you were at our last meeting at Bodhi Hive, you may remember that Mai brought up the challenge many of our local residents are facing with food insecurity, especially with the continuance of SNAP benefits in doubt. As I was beginning to set up a food drive for our own club, we received a message from John Voter, Board of Directors of the Food Bank of Nevada County, challenging the Area 4 Rotary Clubs to the "Inaugural Nevada County Rotary Food Drive." The winning club will receive a custom-engraved Rotary Food Drive Bell, which they can proudly keep until next year's challenge. Needless to say, our club immediately accepted the challenge.

This is a fun way for us to try to "best" the other clubs. However, it is more than that. It is a way for us to easily donate much-needed food to help restock the depleted shelves at the Nevada County Food Bank. The challenge will be based on the weight of food collected, but I feel it is much more important for us to collect the types of food items that are most needed. A 10 lb. bag of flour might help us win the contest, but will it really be what is needed? In talking to staff at the Food Bank, I found that the needs change almost daily, so I am waiting to hear back on what they are running low on that is desperately needed. I will send out that more detailed list of food items when I get it.

On your mark, get ready, because the contest runs from December 1, 2025, to December 12, 2025.

The Rotary Club of Grass Valley South is sponsoring the 34th annual Nevada County Toy Run again this year. Join us in this keystone event for our community. On December 13, 2025, hundreds of motorcycles will rumble through the streets of Nevada City and Grass Valley en route to the Nevada County Fairgrounds to deliver toys, gifts and food to local families in need this upcoming holiday season.

Last year the Toy Run served over 1,200 families and over 2,300 kids with the need anticipated to be even greater this year.  Since 2021 over 7,300 kids and over 3,200 families have been served.
