Hello Nevada City RC Members,

Thank you for a great first formal lunch meeting of the year this past Thursday. We had 30 members and visitors attending, including presidents from all 4 of our other Area 4 clubs and our Area Governor plus our longtime Los Barriles partner, Chris Geyer.

Dan Foss made a request for our help with the Nevada City Summer Nights and National Night Out community programs. John Hensley and Recreation Realty invited us all to celebrate 50 golden years of vocational service on Saturday. Louise Johnson gave us an invitation to attend the NU Freshman Football game for our “fifth Thursday” activity in August. Check the calendar for those dates -- more information will be coming.

Grabbing hold of the theme Pumpkins for Polio, where we will be selling pumpkins to raise funds for the Polio Plus campaign, we will be passing around a Pumpkin for Polio mug at each meeting for you to put in your loose change or a buck or two for the eradication of polio. Even just the cost of a fancy coffee can be used to help stop this disease in the two remaining countries.

Join us this Thursday at Round Table Pizza (5:30PM) for our social gathering, when we will have our first craft talk by Lynda Guthrie, who will share some amazing stories of her life. Secretary Robin and Treasurer Tom have completed and submitted our tax forms and will update us. We will also take a few minutes to review our lunch policy and some other updates.

Partnering with Nevada City Police Dept

Nevada City Rotary is proud to partner with Nevada City Police Department. Look for us with Chief Dan and his team Wednesdays in July for Summer Nights in Nevada City and for National Night Out Tuesday August 1. Contact Dan to volunteer!

National Night Out is a community event from 6pm-7:30 PM at Memorial Park in Grass Valley. The event is free for all ages and includes a Kids Color Fun Run, live music, free food, games, public safety exhibits, and more!

Don’t miss out on the 2023’s epic snowpack runoff season. Again, this year after a COVID hiatus, the Rotary rafting trip is with the commercial rafting company H2O Rafting Guides. Tyler Soule is the owner operator and our host. Being “Born” into a rafting family, Tyler has been rafting all his life and is one of the most recognized “Big Water” Class 5 guides in the industry. All his guides share his rafting passion and are extremely competent and a joy to be with too.
