Once again our club has stepped up to support our community and our club members in many ways - ringing the bell for Salvation Army, our signups for the Area 4 Rotary Foundation gathering has added up to a sellout (a waiting list has been started), and information about the Blood Drive is included in our newsletter. Our club’s Rotary Ramblers had their first hike of the fall season with the second planned; see information below.

Congrats to Cathy on leading your first Thursday noon meetings! We are working on dividing the work with me writing the weekly message, leading the Thursday socials and board meetings, Cathy will also be attending the Area 4 Presidents meetings, handling any local meetings and being on KNCO when needed. Doug is working behind the scenes with email and administrative support.
We do need several more folks to step up and help lead the Fundraising Committee. The committee would need to build and execute a fundraiser to allow our club to support students and other causes in our community and around the world. Carolyn has already stepped up to run the garage sale. Think about how you can be more involved this year.

Celebrate Victorian Christmas with Nevada City Rotary and Police Department
The holidays are fast approaching, and with them comes a unique, FUN opportunity for Community Service. Chief Dan Foss, our Community Services Director has asked the Rotary Club of Nevada City to help at the Victorian Christmas Events.
Dates and Time - Shifts are 2 -2.5 hrs each
Sunday afternoons: Dec. 3, 10, 17 from 1:00-3:30 and 3:30-6:00
Wednesday evenings: December 6 and 13 from 4:30-6:30 and 6:30-9:00.
Rotarians will go out in groups of two, with specially made Rotary safety vests, to mingle with the crowds and give information, if asked, on such things as where the bathrooms are, etc. Also, they will serve as additional eyes/ears for the Police Department and report back to the PD any problems they may see arising. We will not be handling problems ourselves! There will be a short 20-minute orientation for each shift and Rotarians are welcome to go back to City Hall to warm up, eat cookies and rest, as needed.
Rotary has a long tradition of bell ringing with the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaignthrough the holidays each year throughout the US and beyond.
Contact Walt Stickel if you would like to join a team on Saturday December 9. Nevada City Rotary will be ringing in front of SPD Nevada City from 10 am - 6pm. If not ringing, drop by with a few coins or bills and share the cheer and hope as we ring to raise money to support our local community!
