Youth Service covers the projects and activities
the club undertakes to improve life for the youth in its community.
Although not officially recognized by Rotary International, this
Avenue of Service was created to demonstrate the importance that
our club places on youth projects.
One of the most heart-warming and memorable projects
is the Rock Creek Nature Hike and BBQ. Each year, the Club partners
with the U.S. Forest Service, Seven Hills Middle School Leadership
Class, and Champion Mine School to gather handicapped and healthy
children to teach them about our forests. Students from the leadership
class are matched with a “buddy” from the handicapped
school to take them on the Rock Creek Nature Trail. Along the
way, the children learn about nature and wildlife as well as how
to deal with each other. Of course, the highlight of the day is
a surprise visit from Smokey Bear!
The Club also supports the following youth projects
/ organizations: Bear River Interact Club, Rotary Youth Leadership
Awards (RYLA), 3rd Grade Dictionary Project, Children of Chernobyl,
Rotary Ore Cart Soccer Tournament, Speech Tournament, Music Tournament,
4H/FFA Livestock Auction, Friendship Club Scholarship, Drew Reynolds
Memorial Scholarship, and several other scholarships.
