It’s been quite a trip – one I’ll never forget even though there might be a few parts I’d like to forget! That’s not really true, of course, and it has been a pleasure to serve as president of Nevada City Rotary Club, a club that I am proud to be a member.
This year’s board was exceptional. Everyone stepped up to the plate to help make the year successful. I am particularly grateful to PE Michael Colantuono for his leadership to ensure that we had excellent programs every week. His taking the responsibility for organizing the visioning session and conducting the extensive survey will be beneficial for planning for the next several years. That work will certainly get him and his board off on the right foot as we start the new Rotary year!
Thanks to pP David Kenitzer and pP Ellen Davis for taking the realm as Secretary and Treasurer. These are both time consuming and demanding jobs since record keeping is of key importance in Rotary to achieve success. They have done an outstanding job and have walked that extra mile to make sure District 5190 and RI are kept informed with the appropriate reporting and with keeping our finances in order.
The Directors (especially those who chaired projects and events and the members who helped) are to be congratulated on jobs well done. Some of these projects were the Children’s Festival, Foundation Dinner, Radio Auction, Rotary at Work Day, GSE coordination, Fair Booth, and the Speech & Music Contests. Those who helped with the weekly meetings have also been appreciated including Greeters, the Rotary Minute, Flag Salute and Four Way Test leaders, and, of course, the Newsletter. Even the jokesters were enjoyed -- whether they were funny, fined or both!
Welcome to the new members who had faith that if they spent their time, energy and resources, they would benefit from playing a role in the Nevada City Rotary Club. Thanks, too, to the sponsors for having the insight to bring in the four new members who have already demonstrated their desire to be productive while having fun; you should be proud that you sponsored them.
Thanks to the membership last week for committing those last few dollars to meet our average $100 per member for Foundation! To each of you that help make this past year a success, I applaud you and thank you. Although, I have one more request: be kind Saturday night. I'm sensitive, you know.
